Academic Tutoring

Tutoring that meets your child where they are

Whether a student is catching up, keeping up or aiming higher, we start by understanding how they learn — then build a clear plan to grow their skills and confidence, one session at a time.

Who it’s for

  • Students from Kindergarten to Grade 12, with a focus on Grades 9 to 12
  • Learners who feel behind, stuck or anxious in a subject
  • Strong students who want to push their marks higher before applications
  • Families who want regular, honest updates on progress

Problems we help solve

Families usually come to us when they hear things like:

  • “I understand it in class, but I freeze on tests.”
  • “My marks dropped this year and I don’t know how to catch up.”
  • “Homework turns into an argument every night.”
  • “I need a higher mark in Grade 12 Math for my program.”
  • “We can’t help with French or Chemistry at home.”
  • “I don’t know how to study — I just reread my notes.”

What’s included

How we support you, step by step

  1. STEP 01

    A starting-point assessment

We look at recent report cards, tests and assignments, and do a friendly skills check to find gaps and strengths — no pressure, no grades.

  2. STEP 02

    A personalized study plan

Clear goals for the term, the topics we will cover first, and how we will measure progress. Parents see the plan before we begin.

  3. STEP 03

    One-on-one or small-group sessions

Choose individual sessions for focused attention, or small groups of [CONFIRM 2–4] students working on the same course.

  4. STEP 04

    Homework help and test preparation

We work through current schoolwork, review before quizzes and tests, and practise exam-style questions for unit tests and final exams.

  5. STEP 05

    Study skills and time management

Note-taking, planning a study week, breaking down big assignments and managing test nerves — skills that carry into every subject.

  6. STEP 06

    Regular progress updates for parents

A short written update [CONFIRM every month], plus a quick check-in whenever you need one. You will always know what we are working on and why.

What to expect

Honest expectations

Every student learns at a different pace, so we will not promise a specific mark. Here is what you can honestly expect:

  • A tutor who takes time to understand how your child thinks, not just what they got wrong.
  • A clear plan, so sessions are focused rather than “whatever is due tomorrow”.
  • Practice that builds real understanding, not memorized tricks.
  • Regular, plain-language updates about effort, progress and next steps.
  • Honesty about what we see — if something isn’t working, we’ll tell you and adjust the plan. Real progress usually comes from steady effort over a term.

Tutoring FAQs

Which grades and subjects do you tutor?

We tutor students from Kindergarten to Grade 12. Our most-requested subjects are Math, Science (Biology, Chemistry and Physics), English and French. [ADD OTHER SUBJECTS] If you don’t see your subject, ask us — we will tell you honestly whether we are the right fit.

Do you follow the Ontario curriculum?

Yes. Our tutors work from the Ontario curriculum and the student’s own course materials. We also support students following other provincial curricula online [VERIFY which provinces]. Bring your course outline and we will align our plan with it.

Is online tutoring as effective as in person?

For many students, yes — especially with a good digital whiteboard and a tutor who keeps sessions interactive. Some younger students do better in person. We are happy to discuss which format suits your child during the free consultation.

How will I know if tutoring is working?

You will receive regular progress updates describing what was covered, how your child is doing and what comes next. We look at effort, understanding and confidence, as well as marks.

Can you help with a specific test or exam?

Yes. Many families come to us before unit tests, midterms and final exams. Earlier is always better — a few weeks of steady review usually helps more than one last-minute session.

What if my child doesn’t click with their tutor?

Tell us. The relationship matters, and we will happily arrange a different tutor where possible.

Our honest promise: we work hard to help every student build stronger skills, habits and applications. We cannot guarantee specific marks, admission to any program or career outcomes — those depend on many factors, including each student’s effort and each institution’s decisions.
